Siamese Cat names History

The Siamese breed is one of the first distinguished as of oriental origin. Its origin tends to be from Southeast Asia, and they are considered to be descendents of the temple cats of Siam , now in Thailand .

The Siamese temperament is considered as one of the most particular ones. The Siamese voice is unlike that of any other breeds, and they often are regarded as a cat of a complex personality and identity. They're also active, playful and persistent in demanding attention. So which name would suit a Siamese cat?

In the book Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot, the Siamese cat, enemy of the main character, is named Genghis.

In The Cat Who… novels by Lillian Jackson Braun, the Siamese's names are Koko and Yum Yum. In the popular TV series Charmed , Kit the Cat is the Siamese familiar spirit of the main characters.

Walt Disney didn't forget about Siamese either. He named Syn the cat featured in the 1965's film, That Darn Cat!

And, of course, Disney thought of two more Siamese for The Lady and The Tramp film. They were the evil Si and Am, and they were twins!

And what about history? The Siamese cat owned by president Gerald Ford's daughter, Susan, was named Shan Shein, the King of the White House.

On the other hand. Sheila Burnford's novel, The Incredible Journey , featured a Siamese too, Tao. Pyewacket was the Siamese witch in the film, Bell , Book and Candle .

Finally, Sagwa was the main character of the children's book, Sawga, The Chinese Siamese Cat , both a novel by Amy Tan and animated TV series.
